I have decided to incorporate a running, athletic and travel blog into my website. It is here that I will post race results, race pictures and running product reviews.
I recently became an athletic ambassador for INKnBURN. I had seen their ads in Trail Runner magazine and always liked their innovative designs. Each piece of clothing has its own theme and inspiration to it and the company just seemed very passionate about their product. They are also based in California and their products are manufactured in the USA.
Sugar Skull shirt – Key words design and versatility
The Sugar Skull shirt is the first product that I owned from INKnBURN and still remains to be my favorite. Technically I find the tank tops, camisoles and the tech shirts all conducive and great for running. I have run in each product in the rain and also sunny weather and all performed ideally so I am basing my review on the graphic design and the versatility of the shirt.
The first thing that I noticed and liked about the Sugar Skull shirt was that the design was gender neutral. The Sugar Skull image is associated with Mexican culture yet is also an iconic image and speaks to a universal audience. The color of the shirt is also gender neutral – simply just black and white but the intricate design is anything but simple. The shirt is comprised of many detailed, geometric patterns that all intertwine and come together. It almost looks like you are wearing an elaborate and very cool tattoo design on your body without actually having to get a tattoo!
What I like about the Sugar Skull shirt is that I can wear it running with shorts, jeans with high heels and even with a black business suit to my corporate job in NYC and each outfit worked! Most people have limited closet space so for me to acquire another piece of clothing, I want it to be multifaceted. Because of the shirt’s versatility, it is always one of my key items to take on a trip. When I travel, I pack light because I don’t want to pay any extra money to check my bag and the Sugar Skull always makes the cut! The shirt is super lightweight and rolls up to about nothing, plus it dries very quickly. I can wear it for a run in the morning, wash it, hang it on the balcony and it is dry in time for me to wear to dinner. Maybe a bit bohemian for some, but most athletes I know travel this way?
The only downside to the Sugar Skull shirt is that it is so cool and I wear it so much that people think that it is the only shirt that I own! But even if it were the only shirt that I owned, would that be such a bad thing?
